FAQs
What is Byotrol?
Byotrol is a new approach to microbial control that uses a microscopic physical effect combined with a chemical control to give broad band and broad spectrum sanitisation of treated materials.
What does microbial control mean?
It means taking the risk out of the presence of microbes by (in Byotrol’s case) reducing the reproduction and viable numbers of microbes to safe levels.
How does Byotrol work?
Byotrol combines a physical effect with a chemical control provided by selected biocides. Byotrol physical properties interfere with the formation of a biofilm substantially reducing the micro organism’s ability to reproduce. Unable to reproduce, the “age” of the colony increases as does its vulnerability to chemical controls magnifying the biocides efficacy.
How can Byotrol be used and where?
Byotrol can be used anywhere where concern about contamination by microbes is an issue. Byotrol can be used as a surface cleaner/sanitizer or can be added in the manufacturing process of products like paint, soaps, hand cleaners, surface cleaners, carpets, textiles, aircon filters, disinfectants, plastics, steel coatings ect. to name but a few.
Why is Byotrol safe to use?
The molecular backbone of Byotrol has associated with it, by non chemical bonds a selected group of well understood biocides. The effects of the biocides are amplified because they are acting upon micro organisms whose ability to reproduce has been severely impaired and are therefore more susceptible due to their condition.
What makes Byotrol environmental friendly and biodegradable?
Byotrol is a patented material that is designed to dissociate (go into it’s component parts). When immersed for over 24 hours in water the components are foodstuffs to certain natural microbes so it can biodegrade BUT in solutions of more than 0.1% it is perfectly stable for a very long time.
What makes Byotrol long-lasting?
The polymer backbone keeps the Byotrol at the surface preventing the biocides from being “eroded” away.
Does Byotrol sanitize and clean at the same time and how?
Yes it does because it is a cleaner as well as a sanitizer and because it disrupts and removes biofilm.
Is there microbial resistance to Byotrol and if not why not?
NO because it is a physical effect as well as chemical. Physical effects rarely generate immunity; a rat colony may develop resistance to poisoning (chemical) but never to being decapitated by the rat trap (physical).
What does broadband mean?
That it controls a huge range of Microbes, Bacteria, Fungi and Mould.
